teh amazing digital circu ep 2 review by me

Posted by TheMiamiDeSantos - 11 days ago

i will avoid spoilers the max i can since it's a new ep, but i recommend watching it before reading my thoughts about it cuz some stuff gotta be commented on this one

so, recently i watched the newest the amazing digital circus ep and i liked it way more than the first one, even made a new pombi antonia art

in this new ep the amazing digital circus doesn't look like a kid show anymore, having (a little) more serious plot, some heavier jokes, and being heavier and darker than the first one, kudos for that

by the title of the ep "candy carrier chaos" looks like a donkey kong country stage name and you may think it gonna be shit, but that ain't stoping anyone from watching since it's the so awaited new the amazing digital circus ep

the ep starts with pomni anxious with the new place, nothing new, then some glitching stuff on her arm and then she gets desperate, i particularly did laugh a lot on this part "me with food poisoning lol", dramatic beginning but it was just pomni having a little nightmare then she wakes up, then out of her bed this frame:

iu_1201070_10950346.webp

and me as a good old school christian tried to find subliminal messages in those letters, but nothing interesting like "here's to my sweet satan", the evilest thing i could make up with this is: first arrange the blue blocks letters you get "ofc" (ignore the g since it kinda of hiding), then arrange the green ones "i ate 'm", you get "ofc i ate 'em", ate what? the meat and/or flesh sacrificed for their idols/demons

there is basically no spotlight into the main characters presented in the first episode, nothing new to them that was already presented on the first ep, ragatha being friendly to pomni, the bunny still into trolling, caine still the powerful crazy dude, etc

the thing special and the best new character (imo) was the alligator gummigoo, surely the coolest character, pomni in this ep also was way better, more personality, more active, and trve kvte too, trying to befriend the alligator, trve kvte indeed i loved it

in terms of writting it was not so good, but surely it had a good part and probably with deeper meanings kinda how i try to do it with eofs, talking about with eofs other thing that made me like this ep way more than the first one it cuz tadc aint looking like a plain kid show in this ep anymore, it's darker and heavier, having a car criminal chase, sawed off shotgun, politically incorrect jokes (mostly made by the troll bunny the 2nd best character), like "this violates the human rights" then the bunny like "see if i care", a part where he says to the sad mask girl "ain't you supposed to be submissive and ting?" lol sexist joke

but everything happens so fast not giving many of the stuff time enough to you know make sense and have a deeper meaning

not only that things happens so fast but also there are some random stupid jokes that ain't funny at all like the random glitchings some characters do, it's like the studio were just noodling with the characters animations

now to the religious and conspiracy stuff:

the candy princess says "you guys must be the brave fierce knights sent by god" then she looks upwards the camera comes with and there is an image of caine in the style of the catholic church windowpane, the guy named cain is their god, i think the inspiration for that is: in genesis in the bible there is a guy called nimrod, the first guy to be like those guys like hitler, mussolini, mao tse tung, stalin, sadam hussein, etc, nimrod was also the "human god", so they took the name of another evil human (cain) and put to be their god as a little reference to nimrod by which is an inspiration for satanists/occultists

the second reason i liked the gummigoo i character is that he may have been inspired by the people "out of the matrix" like me, zabujard, paul walker, alex jones, etc, he was stealing that truck like robin hood, to save the people of his village (according to the ep plot) and the main characters were going to stop him and get it back to the rich kingdom, making the main characters actually evil. That guy gummigoo just has an existential crisis (kinda random and again too fast) and talks like he doesn't belong into that digital world, but it was different from a standard existential crisis a normal person has, i could feel it was closer to the existential crisis we out of the matrix have, sometimes we wonder what we are doing in this world, why God did create me, why i was born, i wonder why i can't do anything many things that happen in the world, sometimes i feel so small and weak against the system/this world

pomni and gummigoo talks about the "matrix" they are

the ending sucks indeed, the ending ruined all the ep, gummigo got killed by stupid caine, guess they were trying to be funny "let's make a cool character with a cool backstory and personality then let's kill him very soon" reading the comments some people thought it was funny indeed, but by the cost of sacrificing the best character, but ragatha says something like "i'm sorry for that maybe he will come back, caine likes to reuse npcs sometimes", the glitch studio guys probably did that to see if people liked the alligator char so if people wants him back they will bring to abide the viewer's will

then a dramatic funeral of kauffman or something a clown character that i don't know if it was in the first ep, i don't remember about him, but for me didn't have any effect cuz i don't remember about him and the pathetic death of the other char did destroy all the atmosphere of the ep

and also more conspiracy: their god cain quickly killing the coolest out of the matrix char was a way to them express "our master satan can easily kill you christians out of the matrix hahahaa satan"

relax its not a penis, it's just a sweet potato (i guess)

Reviví (soy: Una_fan_de_Fnf o algo así, ya ni recuerdo mí name, no sé si te acordás de mí)

We are definitely at the point in the indie animation "boom" where we might want to be pickier with what shows we want to spend time with, so I appreciate reviews like this.

I personally loved the episode and, despite the swear words technically being censored, it definitely established that The Amazing Digital Circus is not for little kids. I decided against showing it to my Dad despite him enjoying the pilot, not because he would hate it or be offended by it, but because the references clearly skew towards millennial and Gen Z stuff. He would have been absolutely confused by that "Pizza Tower" joke where the stubby-armed gummi gator kept making poses and a very Pizza-Tower-esque sound effect while holding onto a rope and dodging bumps in the road, kind of surprised that overly-specific reference took pretty much an entire minute or two of the entire episode. I guess the clue that this show wouldn't be "Baby-Boomer"-friendly was in the title, specifically the "Digital" part. On the other hand, my Dad does a good job explaining references in 1970's comedies like Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, so maybe I just need to work on doing the same for him.

I think you were actually right on the money of Caine being some kind of anti-Christ metaphor, though he could also be a reference to how it's extremely tempting, whether you're a "Dungeon Master" in Dungeons n' Dragons or playing a "god game" like SimCity or Rollercoaster Tycoon, to just make the little pixel people and NPCs suffer immensely for your own sick pleasure.

Anyway, loved the episode myself, thought it was funny, wished it was much longer, and Monkey Wrench deserves to be AT LEAST as popular as The Amazing Digital Circus. I literally financially support Monkey Wrench on their Patreon, and I want an Episode 4 BAD, please watch Monkey Wrench too, guys!

yeah the gen z references i surely wouldn't be getting much of them too as i'm old school as shix. And right on the sabbath i will watch monkey wrench today

@TheMiamiDeSantos You won't regret it! Zeurel has mentioned the best way to support the show right now is to simply get more people to watch it. Episode 3 seems to be when it gets really good story-wise.

yo, i watched 2 episodes already, and yeah, it's way better than the amazing digital circus lol, loved the sanchez character with some spanish words, amigo, hola did remind me of those cubans of gta vice city. The first episode was great, felt a little descent in the second ep, both in terms of writing and animation, but still it was very good (the animation is comprehensible it surely is expensive to keep the so animated standard of the first ep, if i was not mistaken there was about 20 people involved just in the animation). Also the logo of monkey wrench did remind me a little of the logo of a band called master, damn even the logo i loved, great stuff indeed

miami gets abstracted
