evangelical church review

Posted by TheMiamiDeSantos - November 19th, 2022

well, the dude who did invite me to the church is a very christian dude like me but he is evangelical and i have no religion

he said i was going to love it, but i didn't love i just liked it

there were some good things but some i didn't agree with, like the tithe thing, they say you ain't obliged to do it but they try do you do it, they could have been a little more open about it like "the church got rent to pay so if you guys want to help it please consider donating and ting". 2 of them did talk about the tithe, one did use two bible verses:

"One person gives freely, yet gains even more;

another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.

A generous person will prosper;

whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

Proverbs 11:24-25"

i think it's a little persuasive to use it exactly where there is people who believes in God, bible and ting. This one is better to practice on your day-to-day, yet it's not talking only about money, but also about being generous, kind, do favors and be helpful to people

The evangelical church has a pop approach, there was live music, keyboard, bass, drums, singing, i liked it. But there was some extravagance and also things like kneel down to the stage by which they call "the altar" (i don't think calling a stage an altar is right), thankfully few people did that, i do kneel down and pray but not in public, i think there is no need to do it like that, being a true christian is about following Christ teachings like love thy neighbour, i think there is no need to these things they do at the evangelical churches.

The things i liked is that they talked about the Messiah and a bible passage. The people were kind, some were neutral, but to be honest just that friend of mine has the "christian aura", i couldn't feel the christian aura on anyone else there, maybe because most of the people there was the first time i was seeing them. There was handshakes and hugs i liked it, if you feel very lonely consider an evangelical church you may like it, you are not forced to pay the tithe so there will be free live music and free hugs

i will be there some more times, to see if something interesting happens, it's very unlikely i turn evangelical, i do rather stay with no religion

So, you're an atheist (im sorry if this annoying you) i have a friend that's also atheist, he's in Spanish and he also doesn't believe that god exist

Well, im Muslims and i know my god was there watching me

I'm not atheist, i'm very christian, i just don't have a religion like evangelical, catholic, jew, adventist, nothing like that, all of them have things i don't agree with, the catholic is the one i disagree the most. I did read all the bible and follow the max i can from it

@TheMiamiDeSantos I see, sorry for missunderstanding

that's fine, dude, no problem

That Evangelical church still sounds more laid-back than most American churches. The reason I’m more “spiritual, but not religious” is because all too often when I go to church, I find myself wondering, “do they worship God, or do they idolize specific political ideologies and US politicians?” A lot of the recent times I went to church it was just 2-hour long rants about “culture war” issues like people who use “they” pronouns or Disneyland.

Good for you for thinking critically about the messages being preached to you, though. I guess church is sort of like school where you can’t expect to be spoon-fed knowledge. Eventually you have to think for yourself and turn everything into a potential learning experience, like how you didn’t seem to agree with how the Church talked about tithing but still tried to figure out how it applies in your life.

It’s funny how actually reading the Bible is a good fount of knowledge, but at the same time it makes you more skeptical of churches that would rather you didn’t think too hard about what God REALLY means.

It should be noted that a lot of atheists do thoroughly read the Bible, but the only difference is that they reach the personal conclusion that there is no God. And of course you probably know there are far too many Christians who don’t actually read the Bible and allow themselves to be manipulated by scammers because they don’t want to think when they go to church. Even with religion, you have to use the brain God gave you.

yo hello dude, thanks for your comment, always making excellent comments. I like to think about everything, i like to learn, to observe... the bible is the best source of knowledge, for years i have been searching knowledge on things like estoicism, the art of war, neuroscience. Well, many people say they did read the bible, they know about, but i only trust them if they show that knowledge, since the bible is a book with about 1400 pages, few people have the will to read all that, specially atheists who doesn't believe it. There is the karl marx book, i never read it and i don't intend to.
If more of the people who believe in God did read the bible they would notice the lies, the heresies, the hypocrisy, that there are many of the church and on people who says they're christians (like politicians)

i have sinned 949494 times

im going to hell now :’(
