i have played sonic, the first one on genesis (mega drive how we call here in brazil), a cousin of mine had a mega drive while i had a super nintendo when i was a kid i loved to play sonic but it was like few times per year. That sonic game had a fine vgm, i loved that second level's vgm burning castle full of lava. Then years later on the playstation 2 i got a sonic game with many sonic games including the cd one, that was cool i played a lot.
I have saw some of the newer sonic games on youtube videos they look like crap indeed lol, saw avgn playing one in xbox 360 hilarious video. I watched also luangameplay (a brazilian youtuber) playing one with sonic werewolf werehog or something of ps2 the game was garbage too lol, had some fine cutscenes then some tutorial levels short as shit and many of them, one to teach a simple thing, other to teach other simple thing lol
@jthrash also, i said i'm not into sonic but i have been when i was kid, like i was into super mario, i have played a lot of super mario too, the nes trilogy, the super mario all stars, super mario world (that one i played a loooot), as well super mario world romhacks like brutal mario world (that game is excellent), vip wall and alaska mix, as well made some smw romhacks too. Yoshi's island, super mario kart, i loved super mario when i was a kid. But nowadays i rarely play games, i still play super mario world few times per year, but sonic it's been ages i have not played and sonic now only reminds me of motherfucking chris chan lol
@TheMiamiDeSantos To be fair, even the worst Sonic games of the 2010's and 2020's (so far) are more enjoyable and has less blatant glitches than Sonic '06 (the Xbox 360 game you were probably talking about) or the PS2 version of Sonic Unleashed. Not saying stuff like Sonic Frontiers or Sonic Colors are masterpieces or even in the same league as the worst Mario games, but at least I can see why my younger nephews seem to be getting into Sonic, now. Sonic 1's second zone (Marble Zone) and its music is indeed a timeless classic, even if it was very hard for just the second world in the game.
old school rules. And when it comes to multinational corporations and famous franchises we really gotta be demanding on their stuff. Volkswagen cars should be cheaper, dragonball super should have better animation, ghost should be doing better music and ting. But the indie stuff i treat with love and care
@TheMiamiDeSantos Well, yeah, Super Mario games are so much easier to recommend. The worst I can say about newer Mario games is that they tend to be a bit too easy so that literal toddlers can enjoy the games, which is probably why those unofficial ROM Hacks are so popular to anyone over the age of 4. That and Nintendo never really reduces the prices of their games (2017's Super Mario Odyssey is STILL $60 in the US) and yet act surprised when people prefer to pirate their old stuff even in rich countries.
$60 bucks for a mario game? I would never pay that for many reasons: i'm not too much into games anymore, i'm poor and live in brazil and i avoid giving money to multinational corporations the max i can. Also romhacks rocks, brutal mario world is way better than the original super mario world lol
