Woooah you know more about Punk origins than the documentary that supposedly told the story of the true originators of the genre! Guess A Band Called Death weren't first at all then! Fascinating stuff. Wonder if I'd heard of Electric Eels before, name seems familiar... Armageddon sounds a bit industrial too, though maybe it's more so the recording quality there.

Curious how you've learned of all of these artists? Just exploring? Some better sources out there for obscure musical history like this?

Ah that's awesome. :) I've been to one Ghost concert, though unfortunately had a blasting migraine that particular day and had to leave early, not really the kind of music that made it better. But they're great. Glad you liked the solo too.

Yupp yuuuupp, I'm definitely guilty of occasional gluttony too. :) We don't drink at least, which is a bit rare over here. That's all true yes...

well, the Blast 7'' disc was found around 2014, before that only few people have listened it. Like the blast beats some people say Napalm Death did it 1987, but Repulsion did it 1986, but Beastie Boys did it in 1982. I have found a 1970 song with blast beats: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFf9MhEuXvE
But a guy said a jazz drummer in 1955 was already doing blast beats

Armageddon i think it's only due to the recording quality, pretty lo-fi. I love rock/metal music, i used to be a die hard metal head, love the underground obscure stuff, i used to be always listening to random bands looking for gems, found many gems like that

Ah all the way back to Duke Ellington. :D That drummer could drum for sure, so weird seeing old-time footage like this, and it feels like the accompanying brass doesn't entirely fit in always, maybe it's all in my mind but it's like the styles clash a bit...

But where do you go look for gems like this? Is it all on YT? I guess the more you do search for things like this there the more random musical things you'll start getting in your recommendations too, maybe the algorithm actually helps dig up some gems...

yeah found many on youtube, people on metal groups on facebook recommend some, as well blogs like raf666, chrisdiabolus, anthrophofagia, warriors of the metal, etc, as well the metalarchives. com "similar artists" page, that similar artists feature is great indeed, i even made a news post suggesting tom fulp and the newgrounds staff to put a feature like the metalarchives similar artists:
https://themiamidesantos.newgrounds.com/news/post/1314321
and i also search about some musicians life, see what bands they have played before and listen to the stuff the other bands were playing, for example Ghost, i have listened to everything Tobias Forge have been on: Ghost, Subvision, Repugnant, Magna Carta Cartel, Scurvy, etc.

Ah those are the kind of sources I was curious about, the more niche gatherings of devoted fans. :) Metal Archives looks interesting too, useful interface...

Woah I didn't Tobias Forge was involved in that much... another prolific local musician here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_T%C3%A4gtgren

Wish there was unlimited time to just explore things like this; see what connects everyone. :) Really fascinating once you get into it!

i love sweden and norway music, especially the death metal scene, listened to many stuff by searching the musician life story, LG Petrov, Nicke Andersson (Nihilist/Entombed), Johan Liiva (Carnage), Olve Eikemo/Abbath (Immortal, Old Funeral, etc). I have Johan Wallin (Scurvy, Repugnant, Iron Lamb, General Surgery) on my personal facebook, he is a pretty cool guy it was very nice to meet him

I didn't know Death Metal in particular was so big here. XD Johan Wallin too, nice! Met him via FB then? Have you ever been to any of their concerts? How's the live music scene where you live otherwise?

well i don't know if it's popular there but on the metal archives there are 1948 swedish death metal bands, norwegian 465, brazil 2290 and usa 12209. I did imagine it was kinda popular there since it is a country with about 500.000km² and has 1948 bands while brazil is a country with over 8 millions km² (size of a continent) and just 2290, 1948 is a good amount even compared to the usa (another country with the size of a continent) having more than 10% of it's quantity.
Here in brazil extreme metal music is basically nothing popular, you may not believe but i never went to a live rock/metal concert haha, some bands like Ghost have been here in brazil like in the Rock in Rio and even near my city, but i couldn't go there back at the time (i think i was 14 or 15 back at the time)
yeah i met johan wallin at FB, i did sent him a message saying i'm a big fan of some of his bands he have been on (Scurvy, Repugnant, Iron Lamb)

Woooah that's a lot! Well I guess not compared to the USA but still... random stat in regard to the US btw: Bank robberies in Denmark last year: 1. Bank robberies in the US: around 1,700.

Yeah considering you have about 22 times our population too it does seem like a lot for such a small country. :) I guess it might be, though I wonder if it could be that music overall is just very big here, so maybe the number of bands/artists in regard to population/area is abnormally large no matter the genre. For example Swedish songwriter Max Martin has the most #1 billboard songs of all time, for some reason there's just a lot of musicality here, I've wondered if it has to do with our harsh winters/shifting seasons, that we turn to music as to get through the darker times... but then again that'd be true for our neighboring countries too, maybe it's more so that overall living standards have been relatively high for a long time, and so there's been more opportunity for people to get into more alternative work; have time for creative things instead of slaving away to support their families...

Whatever it is I'm pretty proud to be Swedish when it comes to our music scene. :)

Ah Rock in Rio, that seems like a pretty amazing event, haven't been to any bigger concerts myself, but there's a classic theme park here called Gröna Lund that have a seasonal pass you can buy to go to all concerts they have that particular year, it's very affordable, about 30 USD (they raised the price after the pandemic, used to be even cheaper) for somewhere around a hundred concerts if you actually have the time to go to all. I hadn't been to a real concert at all before 2016 I think, finally discovered this and I've been a bit hooked. :) They get some big names occasionally, I've been to Sting, Korn, Sum 41, Rob Zombie, Wiz Khalifa, Weird Al, D-A-D, Madness... of course a lot of more local performers too, but it's a treasure trove. Oh the Ghost one was there too, as mentioned, though unfortunately didn't see their whole show.

Hope you get the opportunity to go to some of these artists live too! It's really an experience beyond the recordings. Just wish we didn't have smartphones, feels they take away a bit from the immersiveness you could get in the old days, when you watch for example Woodstock 99 concerts, from the heyday of numetal... totally different when everybody was focused on the experience, and not just taking selfies to show they'd been there.

That's awesome. :) Been to a lot of concerts at this point but I actually haven't interacted with any real artists yet, that'd be the next step...

Damn bro ur hot. Fuck my cockhole
